Sheela Kudaravalli, Founder and Design Head at Ovili is determined and passionate about creating aesthetic, beautiful, and stylish spaces both at work and at home around her...
What inspired you to
start Ovili?
In Latin, Ovili means a crease made by folding; this in other words indicates the pleats or gathers made with fabric. I started my career working as a Furniture Fixtures and Equipment (FF&E) Designer at Fountainhead Pvt. Ltd., where I used to work with Interior Designers for high-end classical residences. I was involved in doing the intricate details for their projects. During this journey, I realized that dressing up windows also plays a great role in the interiors. Since then, I started designing furnishings and launched Ovili, my designer furnishings firm out of passion.
The motivation to start Ovili designer furnishings was born as I love to play with different kinds of textiles and have always wanted to create some unique and new designs by using fabrics.
Share some professional highlights from your Ovili journey...
In the corporate sector, we are working for prestigious brands like Novotel Hotels & Resorts through Studio HBA, while for Google, we had done acoustic curtains, sofas, and wall paneling works.
In the residential sector, we have done over 25 projects such as Lanco Chairman’s guest house; villas of Deloitte MD, and Vice-President of Power Mech Industries. Additionally, we are also working with architects like Vijaya Durga and Sulochana, to name a few.
What are your future goals?
I plan to set up a training center in the art of creating home decor items that are unique in nature.
I also have CSR initiatives in the pipeline - to teach and upgrade the lives of BPL girls and destitute women which will help them to make a decent living. We will be associated with them in the marketing of products that they make.
Relevant to this we will also have some interesting developmental programs which we plan to share as we progress.
